Literature Text

I grin and laugh and joke, but do you see
The deeper, darker things inside of me?
Of course you don’t; you have no clue. I play
A game where all of that is hid away.
There is a certain thrill to all of this.
I am afraid that I just can’t resist
To say: your kind and oh-so-helpful friend
Will stab you in the back before the end.

The funny thing about this game I play
Is that, when I’m alone, all are away,
The game loses its charm and I become
The person that I hide from everyone.
Immersed in shadow; none to hold my hand.
Again I lie: “It’s nothing I can’t stand.”

Haha... Why is it that, whenever I sit down to write poetry, it turns out so...weird? I hope that isn't a reflection of my heart.

This was for a school project. I'll admit it was sort of inspired by Kabuto; but it's not entirely a fan-poem, either. Kind of like 'Words', in that respect. Actually, most of the inspiration came from a uniquely vivid dream I had a week or so ago... This is the most technically correct poem I've ever written, by far. Usually I just go with the flow and write whatever sounds right when I read it, but this time I actually paid attention to what kind of poem I was writing - an Italian sonnet. Not sure how well it turned out, as I haven't read many Italian sonnets (that I've recognized as such), but I rather like it.

What do you guys think? Reviews very appreciated, as I don't get a lot of real feedback on my poems. :]
